Alison Mitchell enters her third season with the Syracuse football program as an athletic trainer. She also oversees the resident athletic trainer who works with the ‘Cuse tennis team.Â
Prior to joining the Orange, Mitchell served as an athletic training intern for the University of Michigan football program during the 2019-20 academic year. In addition to her stint with the Wolverines, Mitchell’s previous experience includes a 2019 summer athletic training internship with the Carolina Panthers and two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the University of South Carolina.
At South Carolina, Mitchell worked with the Gamecocks’ football team in the summer of 2018. She also provided athletic training services to Columbia’s Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and South Carolina State University during that time. Mitchell was the primary athletic trainer for SCSU’s volleyball, track & field and softball teams, while assisting with other sports as necessary.
Mitchell is a member of several professional athletic training organizations, including the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Her certifications include Graston Module I, Mulligan Concept Manual Therapy for the Lower Body and Spine, and Mental Health First Aid.
The recipient of multiple professional and postgraduate scholarships, Mitchell earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2017 from Salisbury University, where she worked with five teams as an undergraduate athletic trainer. During her final semester at Salisbury, Mitchell completed a five-month internship with the Navy men’s lacrosse program. She graduated from South Carolina in 2019 with a master’s degree in advanced athletic training.
