Jose Rodriguez joined the Orange in February 2016 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football.

A native of Perth Amboy, N.J., Rodriguez was a member of Baylor’s athletic performance staff in 2014 and 2015 before coming to Syracuse. He worked with Baylor’s football, baseball, volleyball, cross country, and equestrian teams. Rodriguez also  tutored student-athletes on appropriate training and exercise techniques, as well as educated them on proper dietary requirements and nutrition.

Prior to his stint in Waco, Rodriguez worked as a strength and conditioning intern at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Rodriguez earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sports studies from Rutgers in 2013. While completing his undergraduate coursework, Rodriguez was a student athletic trainer for the Scarlet Knights football team. He also previously served as a strength and conditioning intern at Princeton, working primarily with football and baseball.

Rodriguez is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He holds a master’s degree in pedagogy from Baylor in addition to his undergraduate degree.
