Guard has joined the program as an offensive graduate assistant. Guard, a Geneva, New York native, previously spent time on the Rutgers, Georgia Southern, St. Lawrence, Mount Union and Albright College staffs. He served as an offensive graduate assistant for the Scarlet Knights for two seasons, working with the offensive line. He has been part of four bowl appearances (Camellia, Cure, New Orleans and Gator) including a pair of victories.
Before that, he was on the Georgia Southern staff for four seasons in multiple roles. He first joined the coaching staff as an offensive graduate assistant focusing on the offensive line. In 2019, he was hired as the Eagles’ assistant director of player personnel, a position he held for two seasons. That role included helping with the recruiting efforts of the program. Prior to his time in Statesboro, he worked with the offensive line at St. Lawrence.Â
His career in college football began as a student-athlete. Guard was a three-year player and one-year assistant coach at Mount Union. He helped the Purple Raiders win the NCAA Championship in 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Mount Union in 2015 in business management with a minor in education. After college, he was hired as the running backs coach at Albright, where he helped the lions capture the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
Guard also won a New York State championship in high school at Geneva, which was played in the JMA Wireless Dome.
