Charles Watkins is in his first season as a scouting assistant for Syracuse. He joins the Orange after spending the past two seasons at New Hampshire.
Watkins served as the Wildcats’ wide receivers coach for the 2023 and 2024 seasons and added pass game coordinator to his duties last season.
Previously, Watkins was an assistant coach at St. Thomas for two years and the defensive coordinator at Concordia University in Chicago for two seasons.
In addition, Watkins was a graduate assistant wide receivers coach at Rutgers in 2018 and had stops at Coe College and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Watkins earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke, where he played wide receiver. His most productive season came in 2010 when he played in all 12 games and caught seven passes for 34 yards. He also played professionally in the Arena Football League for the Cedar Rapids Titans for one season.
