Senior Year: Nichols earned Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America honors...He was named first-team all-district by the Basketball Times, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and United States Basketball Writers of America (USBWA)...He was a first-team All-BIG EAST Conference selection...Nichols scored in double figures 32 times and topped 20 points in 17 games...He was the only player to start all 35 games in 2006-07...Nichols led the Orange in scoring average (18.9), three-point baskets (100), free-throw percentage (.850) and minutes played average (34.8)...Nichols led the BIG EAST in overall scoring (18.8 ppg) and finished third in socring average in conference games (17.9 ppg)...He made at least one 3-pointer in 40 consecutive games dating back to 2005-06...He became the school's 48th player to accumulated 1,000 career points and finished his career ranked tied for 28th...His 205 career three-pointers rank third at Syracuse behind Gerry McNamara (400) and Preston Shumpert (249)...His 100 on the season represented the second-best total by an SU senior, just three behind McNamara's total a season ago...Nichols earned BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week recognition once and was on the league's honor roll seven times...He had six straight games of 20 points or more in outings versus OKLAHOMA STATE (26), COLGATE (28), BAYLOR (28), DREXEL (31), HOFSTRA (20), and ST. BONAVENTURE (22)...Nichols outscored Colgate in the second half of that game, 24-22...He posted his first double-double of the campaign against the BONNIES with 22 pionts and 10 rebounds...He scored a career-best 37 points vs. ST. JOHN'S on Feb. 11th, including 26 in the second half...He drained a personal-best seven 3's in the game...His 37 points against the Red Storm were the most ever for an SU player in BIG EAST play, breaking the record of 36 held by Hakim Warrick, Lawrence Moten and Billy Owens...Nichols' 26 points after the intermission tied the SU Carrier Dome record for points in a half (Gene Waldron)...Nichols' 14 made field goals and 24 field goal attempts also tied Orange Dome standards...His seven 3's tied for sixth on SU's single-game list...Nichols also grabbed 10 rebounds marking his second double-double of the season...Nichols had 28 points to help SU past Connecticut in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament...He averaged a squad-best 18.3 points per game in the three NIT contests.
Junior Year: Nichols ranked second on the team in scoring average (13.3) and had the third highest rebounding mark (5.8)...He posted the sixth-best scoring average improvement in SU history, going from 3.9 a year ago to 13.3 in 2005-06…It was the fourth-best improvement in the BIG EAST Conference…His six threes, combined with Eric Devendorf’s five against TCU, marked the first time since 1998 that two SU players made five or more three-point baskets in a single game...Nichols posted the first three double-doubles of his career in 2005-06…He had 11 points and 10 rebounds against CORNELL in the second game of the season…When the Orange defeated SIENA, Nichols contributed 14 points and 10 boards…He had 18 points and 10 rebounds at CINCINNATI…Nichols scored a career-high 28 points against CONNECTICUT...Other 20-plus point performances came against FLORIDA (24), TCU (24), DAVIDSON (26), TOWSON (25), and RUTGERS (24)…Over the course of four BIG EAST Tournament contests, Nichols averaged 13.0 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Sophomore Year: He started the first eight games of the 2004-05 campaign for Syracuse...The Orange was 7-1 in that span...He missed three games (DREXEL, CORNELL, RICE) with a back injury...He scored in 22 of 27 appearances and the Orange was 19-3 when Nichols found the scoresheet...He opened the campaign with 11 points against NORTHERN COLORADO and 14 versus PRINCETON...Nichols played a career-high 40 minutes versus the TIGERS...He had a season-high seven rebounds versus MISSISSIPPI STATE in the NABC Classic semifinals.
Freshman Year: Nichols was invited to try out for the 2004 USA Basketball World Championship For Young Men’s Qualifying Team…He participated in the first round of July workouts at the New Jersey Nets’ training facility but did not secure one of the final 12 spots on the roster…His first career points were a three-point basket in SU’s victory against RHODE ISLAND…Nichols scored in 19-of-26 outings as a rookie…He tallied a personal-best 17 points in a career-high 36 minutes at PROVIDENCE…He also had seven rebounds in the game…Nichols started the last 15 games of the season…He converted at least one three-pointer in 10 of the last 18 contests…One of his better showings was a 12-point, eight-rebound effort in a win against VIRGINIA TECH…He had 10 and nine points in back-to-back NCAA games against BYU and MARYLAND.
High School: Rated 50th overall and 14th among small forwards by ESPN.com…Nichols was coached by Mike Hart at St. Andrews High School…He was a three-time Street & Smith’s Magazine Honorable Mention All-American…As a freshman, Nichols was part of a squad that finished 20-11…In his sophomore year, Nichols and his club were 22-10 and claimed the New England prep school championship…The following campaign, 2001-02, St. Andrews was 25-8 and finished second in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference…He was selected All-New England and earned all-tournament recognition at the King of the Bluegrass Tournament (Louisville, Ken.), the Glaxo Smith Kline Holiday Invitational (Raleigh, N.C.) and the National Prep School Invitational (Smithfield, R.I.)…Nichols averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocks…He was a member of the 2002 USA Development Festival East Team that finished 3-2 and earned the silver medal…He averaged 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in five games…Nichols was a third-team Parade All-America in 2003…He helped his club to the New England Prep School Athletic Conference title, tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game against Lawrence Academy…He was named to the all-tournament team in the Slam Dunk to the Beach Classic (Lewes, Del.)…Nichols averaged 18.6 points and 8.9 rebounds a game and St. Andrew’s finished 28-8 …He completed his career ranked third on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,809 points…He was named 2003 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year and EA Sports Roundball Game All-American…St. Andrew’s retired his number 34 jersey, the third number retired at the school…Connecticut starter Tony Robertson and teammate Huskie Abdi Lidonde were the others so honored.
