Len Lopoo is in his eleventh year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Syracuse University women's tennis team. Lopoo was a top-20 nationally ranked junior player and played collegiately at Louisiana State University.
Lopoo played high school tennis at Catholic High in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where his team won four consecutive state championships. Lopoo won three individual state titles during that time. As a junior, he ranked first in Louisiana, second in the Southern section, and 18th nationally. During his junior playing career, Lopoo had wins over a number of elite tennis players, including Jim Courier, Mal Washington and Alex O’Brien. Lopoo played tennis collegiately at LSU. In 1992, he coached his alma mater, Catholic High School, to the Louisiana State High School Championship.
He earned a bachelor's degree from LSU (1990) and a master's degree (1994) and PhD (2001) from the University of Chicago. Currently, he is a professor at the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
