Mike Missen, who spent three years at the University of Kentucky prior to Syracuse, joined the Syracuse University strength and conditioning staff in September, 2018. Missen is responsible for developing men’s lacrosse, ice hockey and softball student-athletes, including designing programs to increase the conditioning, speed, strength and agility of each student-athlete.
Missen's prior experience includes three years at Kentucky after a combined five years at Iowa State and Montana State. At Kentucky, Missen directed the strength and conditioning programs for the men’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, and men’s cheer teams, while also assisting with baseball, men’s soccer, track and field, and swimming and diving programs. At Montana State, Missen was a strength and conditioning intern, assisting with the football, basketball, and track and field programs.
A 2014 graduate of Iowa State, Missen worked with the Cyclones women’s swimming and wrestling programs as an intern while obtaining his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health – exercise science. Missen earned a master’s degree in kinesiology and health promotion at Kentucky.
Missen resides in Syracuse with his wife, Sarah, who works as an athletic trainer at Syracuse University for the women’s rowing program. The couple has a son, Logan.
