SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks, Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2014 signing class. Be sure to check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.
Â
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."

In today's installment, Bradley announces the signing of midfielder Lieke Visser of Bunnik, Netherlands to a National Letter of Intent.
Â
"I chose Syracuse because I love the beauty of the university so much," Visser said. "The pictures are so great and I can't wait to see it with my own eyes. The level of hockey is very high and everyone was very kind. My father studied for a couple months at the university and he had a great time. I hope I will also have a wonderful time."
Â
Visser signs with Syracuse after a high school career at Utrechis Sieddyk Gymnasium, where she served as the team's captain for two years.
Â
"Lieke is a quick, smart and skillful player," Bradley said. "She has great vision and awareness. She will be a key central playmaker for us next fall. Her ability to eliminate off the pass, as well as dribble, and her desire to join the attacking play, will add strength to our midfield unit."
Visser also played club hockey Kampong under head coach Reiner Vellinga. Her team medaled in the Dutch National Indoor Championship in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2014. In 2009 and 2011 the team won the bronze medal. In 2013 they earned the silver medal, and most recently, in 2014, the Dutch team won the gold.
Visser was also on the outdoor team that won a silver medal at the 2011 Dutch National Championship.
"I want to improve my own skills and get better, as a team," Visser said. "I hope I can mean something for the team as a midfielder and I really want to win a championship."
