An experienced talent evaluator, Dave Boller transitioned to director of recruiting operations for the Orange in 2018. He spent his first season at Syracuse as the team’s director of player personnel.Â

Boller has nearly 20 years of experience evaluating NFL players and joined the Orange in 2017. He oversees the program’s efforts to identify and attract top high school student-athletes. His responsibilities include maintaining the program’s recruiting database, developing schedules for official and unofficial visits, and monitoring the academic progress of prospects.Â

In 2018, Boller’s efforts helped land the Orange’s highest-rated class in more than decade, according to 247Sports.com.

Prior to joining the Orange, Boller spent two seasons at Louisville. He was the Cardinals’ NFL liaison and director of on-campus recruiting in 2015. In 2016, Boller served as their director of high school relations.

Boller’s Louisville stint marked his return to the college ranks after 19 NFL seasons. His most recent pro stop was as an area scout for the New York Jets from 2012-14. In that role, he was responsible for evaluating offensive and defensive line prospects in the Western half of the country.

From 2007-09, Boller was the assistant pro director for the Detroit Lions. He assisted Detroit’s general manager with salary cap matters, performed evaluations for both active players and free agents, and assisted with the weekly advance report for the coaching staff. Following his tenure with the Lions, Boller served as a consultant from 2010-12 for multiple NFC teams, offering his insight on both college and pro prospects.

In addition to his front-office experience, Boller spent 13 seasons as a scout for the St. Louis Rams (2004-07), Philadelphia Eagles (1998-2004) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1995-98). In 1999, he was a member of the Philadelphia staff that decided to make Syracuse standout Donovan McNabb the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

Boller began his career in athletics at Arizona State where he served as the director of football operations for the Sun Devils from 1985-95. In that capacity, he was responsible for monitoring the ASU football budget, organizing recruiting functions, setting up travel, housing and meals for the team, and organizing official visits.

Boller attended Arizona State from 1980-84. He holds a degree in business.
