Athletic Career:
Football: One year pro-football, Jersey City Giants, American Association, leading ground gainer in league.
Track: Sprinter on U.S. Olympic track team, 1936 – Berlin; Competed in all major national international track meets, indoors and outdoors, 1935-39. Among others, won the Sugar Bowl, Knights of Columbus, France-Japan-United States Triangular, Prout, Boston A.A.
Basketball: Professional basketball, Syracuse Seniors, 1-year barnstorming.
Administrative: Sports Director, WMGM (WHN) 5 years; President, Sportsplan, 3 years; Sports Director, Home Box Office, 5 years, currently Sports Consultant; Executive Director, professional Ski Racers Association, 2 years; President, International Tennis and Ski Camps, 4 years; President, Sports Broadcasters Association, 2 years; Member of Varsity Club.
Marty is one of the most highly respected sports figures in the United States in the field of broadcasting. His name, voice and face are synonymous with excellence and “top caliber” sports programs and productions.
He has been a radio and television broadcaster for up to 32 years in track & field, harness racing, basketball, baseball football and other sports. Besides play by play broadcasts of professional games of the Giants Jetes and Knicks, he did college (Army & Columbia) and high school football games. Marty’s knowledge and broadcasting ability of many sports enabled him to become very versatile in his field. He was employed by the top names in New York City such as WOR, MABC, WPIX, WCBS, WNBC-TV, WMGM, WINS, WNEW, and others.
