
Orangewomen Ace Canisius in Win

Syracuse (14-8) posted its second consecutive three-game sweep, winning 15-4, 15-7 and 15-4.
Junior outside hitter Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY) and freshman setter Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA) served three aces each. It was a career-high for Munger. Four other Orangewomen served a pair of aces, including senior rightside hitter Dana Fiume (Island Park, NY), senior outside hitter Julianna Stokes (Naperville, IL), junior middle blocker Jing Jing Wang (Beijing, China) and junior setter Noreen Carroll (LaGrange, IL).
Fiume led all players with nine kills. Stokes posted five with a match-high seven digs. Munger added six digs and four kills. Van Mater led the Syracuse defense with three blocks. Carroll contributed 22 assists.
The Orangewomen open a three-match homestand Oct. 17 against Cornell at 7 p.m. It continues Oct. 20 and 22 with matches against Seton Hall and Rutgers, respectively.
