SYRACUSE, NY (Oct. 16) Senior Kevin Bacher (East Meadow, NY) has been named Co-BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week. Bacher helped the Orangemen to a pair of victories over top-25 teams this past week, including a 1-0 shutout of top-ranked Connecticut.
Bacher allowed just one goal on a penalty kick in 180 minutes of action this week. He made four saves in the Orangemens 5-1 win versus No. 21 Adelphi on October 9 and another four stops in Syracuses upset of the Huskies.
The senior captain has been tough to score against over the Orangemens last eight games. Bacher has allowed just eight goals in the last eight games, including three shutouts. Syracuse is 5-1-2 over that same span. They are 7-4-2 overall with a 3-3-2 mark in the BIG EAST.
For the season, Bacher has posted a 1.20 goals against average while playing every minute in goal for the Orangemen. All four of his shutouts have come in BIG EAST play. This is the first time Bacher, the preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, has been given the award this season.
The Orangemen return to action on Friday, October 20 with a home game versus Providence. Game time is set for 5
p.m.
