The Orangewomen are looking to extend a five-game winning streak with a very important BIG EAST contest against Providence Friday at 7 p.m. Syracuse (11-5, 2-1 BIG EAST) can still finish in a tie for first-place with Connecticut and pin down a No. 1 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. In order to do that, the Orangewomen need to win their two remaining conference games against Providence and UConn on Oct. 28.
During its current five-game winning steak, SU has posted four shutouts, giving up four goals in last Fridays 5-4 overtime thriller at Villanova. The Orangewomen have played six overtime games this season and are 3-3 when the contest is decided in extra sessions.
Friday marks the 18th meeting between Syracuse and Providence. The Orangewomen hold a 9-3-5 advantage in the all-time series. Last season, SU defeated the Friars, 2-1 in overtime, in Providence.
Syracuse earned its highest ranking of the season this week at No. 15 in the STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.

She netted another goal versus Dartmouth on Oct. 9. Kristins 10 goals this season and 24 points pace the Orangewomen. She is the sixth-leading scorer in the BIG EAST.
The Division I national statistics were released on Tuesday and Syracuse was tied for ninth in the nation in scoring defense (1.13 goals per game). A big part of that success has been the play of sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Latsko. She is third in the nation in save percentage (.878) and third in total saves (137). Latskos 1.13 goals against average has her ranked 10th among the countrys top goalkeepers.
Fifth-year senior forward Laura Fitzpatrick tallied two goals and an assist last week. She scored against Dartmouth and versus Villanova, she registered a goal and an assist. With her performance against Villanova, Fitzpatrick surpassed Mary Ann Hopkins (1983-86) on the schools all-time scoring list.
