Men's Soccer Loses 2-0 To No. 4 Connecticut In BIG EAST Quarterfinals

Senior goalkeeper Kevin Bacher (East Meadow, NY) and senior midfielders Mario Cristofori (Fairport, NY) and Sean Boyle (Manlius, NY/ Christian Brothers Academy) ended their Syracuse careers before a crowd of 1,529 at Morrone Stadium. Bacher made four saves in his final game.
In the 29th minute, Roberto Vargas opened the scoring an unassisted goal off a free kick. In the 60th minute, Rui Fernandes scored the second the Connecticut goal after a corner kick led to a scramble in the box. Edwin Rivera and Chris Gbandi were both credited with assists on the Fernandes goal.
Syracuse finishes its season with an 8-9-2 record and a 4-5-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Connecticut advances to the conference semifinals with a 15-2-2 record and 8-1-2 record in BIG EAST play.
