PROVIDENCE, RI - The 2001 BIG EAST Women's Rowing Challenge will be contested in Worcester, MA,
on Lake Quinsigamond, the league announced on Friday, Jan. 5. The inaugural event takes place
on Sunday, April 29.
Previous to the formation of The BIG EAST Challenge, the Georgetown Invitational brought together BIG EAST schools for a regatta. At last year's Georgetown Invitational Syracuse won the first and second varsity eight races. The Orangewomen's varsity four also finished first in the championship four race.
Lake Quinsigamond hosted four major regattas in 2000, including The Championship International Collegiate Regatta and the ECAC's Eastern Sprints.
