Junior midfielder Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) was selected to the STX/NFHCA Division I All-America Second Team. It was Aronowicz's first All-America nod. She is the 11th Orangewoman field hockey player to be named an All-American and the first second-teamer since Kelly Hambleton in 1999.
This is the latest in a long string of honors for Aronowicz this season. Last week, she was selected to the STX/NFHCA Mideast Region First Team. She was voted the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team for the second-straight season.
Aronowicz led the Orangewomen in scoring with a career-high 37 points on a BIG EAST-leading 17 goals. Her 17 goals tied for second on SU's single-season record list. Returning for her final year of eligibility next season, Aronowicz is on pace to become the school's all-time leading scorer. She has 76 career points (33 goals, 10 assists) and needs 19 more to break Julie Williamson's and Yvonne Milionis' career scoring marks of 94 points.
Syracuse finished the season with a 16-4 record, a 5-0 mark in the BIG EAST Conference and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
