Joining Andrade and Johnson on the all-region squad are freshman Jarett Park (Tully, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) as a second-team selection and junior Guido Cristofori (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), a third-team pick.
Johnson led the team in scoring for the second consecutive season with 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points. That total was also tops in the BIG EAST. Johnson's point total was the most by an SU player since Paul Young scored 35 points in 1991. In just two seasons, the forward has become the 12th Syracuse player to score 50 or more career points. Johnson was also a first-team All-BIG EAST selection.
Andrade started all 16 games for Syracuse and was fourth on the team in scoring with 10 points. He tallied a career-best eight assists and ended his career ranked seventh on the SU all-time assist ledger with 16. His lone goal of the season was the game-winner in overtime versus Colgate. Last season, Andrade was a second-team all-region pick. He was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team this season.
Park, the 2001 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, had one of the most productive seasons ever by an Orangeman freshman. He led the team, the BIG EAST and the nation with 14 assists (0.93 per game), an SU freshman record and the second-best single-season assist total by a Syracuse player regardless of class. Park also scored five goals and ranks third on the Syracuse freshman points list with 24. In addition to his Rookie of the Year honor, Park was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team.
Cristofori missed the first three games of the season because of injury, but came back to score two goals and three assists from his midfield position. He was also a third-team all-conference choice this season.
The Orangemen finished the season 7-8-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the BIG EAST. The Orangemen were ranked as high as 18th in the nation during the season, the second consecutive year that SU achieved a top 20 ranking.
