Neveklovska Moves Into Seventh in Career Wins as SU Tennis Shuts Out Georgetown

It was the first time this season that the Orangewomen (3-2) won each match, including five singles matches in straight sets. SU began the day by claiming the doubles point. Seniors Michelle Neveklovska (West Vancouver, British Columbia) and Zuzanna Borucka (Gdansk, Poland) defeated Julie Hom and Jordan Botjer, 8-0, at the first slot. Sophomores Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) and Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA) posted an 8-4 win against Caroline Marshall and Hadley Muckerman at No. 2 doubles. Junior Katie Thompson (Wesley Chapel, FL) and freshman Zani Suttle (Roswell, GA) won the third doubles match, 8-1, against Meredith Bumpass and Lara Madonia.
Neveklovska also won her first singles match, 6-0, 6-1, against Marshall. Her two wins Sunday give her 135 for her career. She surpassed former teammate Shareen Lai (1996-2000) and Amy Schiff (1983-87) on the SU all-time wins list. She is tied for sixth with Sara Dickson (1991-95). Borucka was victorious in the days only three-set match against Botjer at number two. Borucka won the first set 6-3, lost the second 3-6, but rallied to win the match 6-3. Kabanova won her third consecutive match at No. 3 singles, defeating Madonia 6-0, 6-0. Saedinia defeated Muckerman 6-1, 6-2 at number four, while Thompson posted a 6-0, 6-1 win against Bumpass at number five. Suttle picked up the win at the sixth spot, 6-2, 6-2 against Hom.
Syracuse travels to Hanover, NH for a pair of matches next weekend. The Orangewomen face Dartmouth at 3 p.m. Friday. They play BIG EAST foe Rutgers at noon Saturday.
