Jones Wins 100-Meter High Hurdles and Adrian Takes Discus Title at the Hurricane Invitational

Junior Alison Culley (Foxborough, MA) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.76 seconds and ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.41 seconds. Junior Aprelle Watkins (Virginia Beach, VA) took third in the triple jump, leaping 39’ 1" and senior Latoya Redden (Syracuse, NY) was fourth with a leap of 38’ 11 1/2".
Sophomore Maria Varela (Deer Park, NY) took third in the 3,000-meter run, completing the race in 10:15.45. In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Aleccia Boland (London, Ontario) placed fourth, completing the race in 4:41.38.
Junior StacyAnn Dwyer (Huntington Station, NY) finished third in the 400-meter low hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:02.26, while freshman Michelle Vaughn (Wells, ME) took eighth in the pole vault, clearing 8’ 0".
For the Orangemen, junior Naeem Smith (Bridgetown, Barbados) finished eighth (1:56.78) and freshman Mike Czabaj (Avenel, NJ) was ninth (1:57.87) in the 800-meter run. In the 3,000-meter run, freshman John Bitok (Kitale, Kenya) finished sixth in 8:59.40 and senior Antony Mberia (Nairobi, Kenya) placed ninth in 9:05.70. Sophomore Tom McCabe (Suffield, CT) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:51.43.
