
Orangewomen Row Against Yale and Cornell In Ithaca

Yale is ranked sixth by the Independant Rowing News, which ranks all of the boats for the top six rowing teams. SU's varsity eight is ranked sixth by the US Rowing Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll. Yale's varsity eight is ranked 10th in the coach's poll. The Orangewomen's varsity eight competed against Yale at last year's NCAA championship and at the 2000 Head of the Charles in October. At the NCAAs Syracuse's first eight finished ninth with a time of 6:35.79, while Yale finished 19th with a time of 7:24.39. At the Head of the Charles SU placed fifth and Yale placed sixth.
Cornell's varsity eight is ranked 19th in the coach's poll. The Big Red's rowing team is deep, with strong boats from the varsity eight through the freshman four.
Heather DiLoreto (East Amherst, NY) will coxswain the Orangewomen's varsity eight. Syracuse's first-ever first-team All-American, Jillian Kott (McLean, VA) sets the pace from the stroke seat. Meredith Kyle (Rochester, NY) is the bow and Nicole Garafalo (Liverpool, NY, Liverpool HS) is in the second seat.
