
Stacey Brown Named First-Team All-American

Junior midfielder Carrie Soults (Washington, D.C.) also was honored as an All-American, receiving third-team accolades.
Brown, a 2001 first-team All-BIG EAST selection, started all 15 games for the Orangewomen. She led the team with 31 draw controls, and scored 14 points on 10 goals and four assists. Brown was also named first-team All-North Region.
Soults was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year after finishing the 2001 campaign with 42 points on 33 goals and nine assists. She was also second on the team with 25 draw controls. Soults was named first-team All-North Region.
Two other Orangewomen received all-region recognition. Freshman attack Leigh-Ann Zimmer (Farmingdale, NY) made the first-team, leading the Orangewomen in scoring with 49 points on 36 goals and 13 assists. Zimmer was a second-team All-BIG EAST pick, scoring 22 points, including 16 goals, during conference play.
Senior Katrina Hable (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) was named second-team All-North Region. Hable finished third on the squad with 29 points on 17 goals and 12 assists. She was also third on the team with 28 ground balls and added 15 draw controls.
The Orangewomen finished the season with a 10-5 overall record and a 5-1 mark their first BIG EAST season to earn their second consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 11th-seeded Orangewomen were defeated in the opening round by sixth-seeded North Carolina, 14-9.
