Syracuse University and the Department of Athletics will pay tribute to the victims of the September 11 tragedies and their loved ones prior to the SU-Auburn football game in the Carrier Dome on September 22. The Syracuse University Pride of the Orange Marching Band will perform a pre-game show dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives in these tragedies and their families, and those rescuers who continue to work in the disaster areas.
Before the game more than 150 SU student-athletes wearing 'Cuse Cares t-shirts will be around the Carrier Dome and parking areas collecting donations for the September 11 Fund of the United Way of America for New York City's disaster relief efforts. The volunteer effort is part of SU's annual Dollar Days at the Dome collection efforts for the United Way.
Fans should plan to arrive at the Carrier Dome early to allow for extra security checkpoints at the Dome. The gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and fans should be in their seats by 7:30 p.m. for a pre-game ceremony paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragedies.
Everyone attending the game should keep in mind that strict security measures will be in effect at the Carrier Dome.
Once in the Carrier Dome fans will find a United States flag on their seat to display during the pre-game ceremony.
