
Orangewomen Volleyball Lose to #23 Notre Dame in BIG EAST Opener

SOUTH BEND, IN - The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team lost to No. 23-ranked Notre Dame, 3-0, in the BIG EAST opener for both teams. The Fighting Irish extended their record to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Orangewomen dropped to 5-4 and 0-1 in the conference.
Kristy Kreher paced the Fighting Irish with 14 kills and 11 digs. As a team, Notre Dame posted a .313 attack percentage compared to Syracuse’s -.048. Kristen Kinder joined Kreher in double digits with 36 assists and 11 digs.
Syracuse senior co-captain Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) played in her first match this season after recovering from a knee injury. She had six kills and a team-high nine digs. Freshman Rachel Crooks (Green Springs, OH/Clyde) led the Syracuse offense with eight kills.
Syracuse travels to Valparaiso on Sunday, Sept. 23 to face the Crusaders at 1 p.m.
