Tennis Players Lose In Semifinals of Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, MD (9/29/01)— Two Syracuse University Orangewomen tennis players lost their semifinal singles matches and an SU doubles team lost its semifinal match at the Maryland Invitational, hosted by Maryland University from September 28-30.
Sophomore Daniela Kaluskova (Prague, Czech/ Gym Budejovicka) lost to Maryland's Emily Marker, 6-4, 6-4, in the Flight A singles semifinals. In the Flight A doubles semifinal, Syracuse juniors Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia/ School #528) and Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA/ Calabasas) lost 8-4 to American's Lourdes Riusech and Olga Mikhailova. In the Flight C singles semifinal SU sophomore Margot Ahlquist (Worcester, MA/ Notre Dame Academy) lost to Maaria Husain of Penn State, 6-2, 6-0.
Final rounds in the championship and consolation bracket will be played on Sunday, September 30.
