
Orangewomen Ranked 10th In Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll

BALTIMORE, MD - The Orangewomen were picked to finish 10th in Lacrosse Magazine's 2002 Preseason Rankings. The rankings were assembled from a poll of the nation's collegiate coaches.
Carrie Soults (Georgetown Day/Washington, DC), last year?s BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, was listed as a player to watch in the 2002 season. Soults finished second on the team in goals (33) and draws (25) in the 2001 season. She was named third-team All-American and was selected to the IWLCA Division I Academic All-American team.
Maryland was picked to repeat as national champions with 445 points, and BIG EAST rival Georgetown was ranked fourth with 378 points. Seven of SU's 2002 opponents are ranked in the top 20 preseason poll, including No. 7-ranked Virginia and No. 9-ranked Dartmouth.
Syracuse travels to Stanford for its season opener on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. It hosts Maryland on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. in the Orangewomen's home opener at the Carrier Dome.
