
Green to Be Honored at SU-Rutgers Game

At Syracuse, Green was an All-America selection in 1984 and 1985, in addition to earning Academic All-America honors in both of those years. The 1985 ECAC co-Player of the Year, Green was a three-time first-team All-East and ECAC selection. He still holds the SU records for career sacks with 45.5 and most tackles by a down lineman with 341.
A native of Liverpool, N.Y., Green enjoyed an eight-year career in the National Football League with the Atlanta Falcons from 1986 to 1993.
Green is the 12th person with Syracuse University football ties to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Six former Orangemen players are members of the College Football Hall of Fame, including Joe Alexander (1954), Vic Hanson (1973), Ernie Davis (1979), Floyd Little (1983), Larry Csonka (1989) and Jim Brown (1995). Former SU coach Hugh “Duffy” Daugherty was enshrined as a player and coach in 1984. In addition former head coaches Frank “Buck” O’Neill (1951), Clarence “Biggie” Munn (1973) and Floyd “Ben” Schwartzwalder (1982), and assistant coach Bud Wilkinson (1969) are enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
