Senior midfielder Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) of the Syracuse University field hockey team was named the co-Offensive Player of the Week by The BIG EAST Conference, along with Connecticut's Lauren Henderson. It is the first weekly award for Aronowicz this season.
Aronowicz led the Orangewomen to a 2-0 record last week with two goals. In a 2-1 BIG EAST win against Providence, she scored the game-tying goal. Aronowicz put SU on the board first with her sixth goal of the season in a 2-0 win against Dartmouth. Both of her goals last week were scored off penalty strokes.
Aronowicz is closing in on the school's all-time scoring record. She needs six more points to take over the No. 1 spot on the list. With 89 career points, Aronowicz is currently tied for fourth on the Orangewomen's all-time scoring chart.
The Syracuse field hockey team is 10-6 on the season. The Orangewomen are tied for third in the conference standings with Boston College. Both teams have 2-2 records in the league. SU hosts Colgate at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Orangewomen play their final conference game at first-place Connecticut (3-0) on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Syracuse hosts the 2002 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship on Nov. 8-10, at Coyne Field.
