
Carriero's Goal Lifts Field Hockey to 1-0 Victory at UMass

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Carriero (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) scored for the No. 19-ranked Syracuse field hockey team at the 53:08 mark of the second half to give the Orangewomen a 1-0 victory against Massachusetts in Amherst. It was Carriero's second goal of the season and fifth of her career.
For the Minutewomen, it marked their 10th consecutive loss of the season. UMass is 0-10 this year.
Syracuse's record improves to 6-4.
The Orangewomen outshot Massachusetts, 17-7, and had a 10-3 edge in penalty corners. Senior midfielder Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) was back in the starting lineup for SU after missing two games with a finger injury. Senior goalkeeper Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) played all 70 minutes and recorded one save.
Syracuse plays at Holy Cross on Sunday, Oct. 6, beginning at 1 p.m.
