Jones Named Outstanding Competitor By The Armory Foundation

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse University senior Opal Jones (Capitol Heights, Md./Bishop McNamara) has earned the Outstanding Competitor Award for her performance in the women?s University Division of the New York Road Runners Club Armory Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 8-9 in New York City. The award was given by the Armory Foundation.
Jones provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.40. She also won the 60-meter dash in 7.67 to qualify her for the ECAC Championship and ran the opening leg of the 1600-meter relay that captured third place.
Jones will compete at the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
