Football Orangemen Sign Diverse Class

"First of all, certainly we are very pleased," Pasqualoni said. "We had to sign a large class and obviously we were able to get that done. We needed offensive lineman, and we were able to sign five. And not only five, but five guys we really like and who will fit into our program very well. We needed to sign some inside defensive lineman, not necessarily outside. We really did not recruit a defensive end, but we needed the bigger inside guy. We were able to sign three inside guys. We needed linebackers. We were able to sign three really quality linebackers who will fit into the 4-3 (defensive alignment). It is nice to have that number because they'll go through this as a class."
SU's 2002 NLI class includes 24 student-athletes, in addition to January enrollee Moe Sidibe (Scarborough, Ontario).
Defensive players who signed their NLI earlier today include linebackers Jamar Atkinson (Dale City, VA), Jerry Mackey (Freeport, NY) and Kelvin Smith (New Hempstead, NY), cornerbacks Terrell Lemon (Miami, FL) and Larry McClain (Forestville, MD), safeties Louis Cain (Washington, DC) and Anthony Smith (Hubbard, OH) and defensive tackles Omain Gullette (Glenn Mills, PA)and D.J. Johnson (Houston, TX) and defensive lineman Shadeed Harris (Hampton, VA).
On the offensive side of the ball SU signed quarterback Perry Patterson (Lancaster, PA), running back Damien Rhodes (Manlius, NY), offensive guards A.J. Mitchell (Downingtown, PA) and Justin Outten (Chalfont, PA), offensive tackles Kader Drame (New Haven, CT) and Quinn Ojinnaka (Seabrook, MD), offensive linemen Christopher Thorner (West Suffield, CT) and Brandon Darlington (Downington, PA), tight end Justin Woody (Tallahassee, FL) and wide receivers Timothy Lane (San Diego, CA) and Rashard Williams (Miami, FL).
In addition, athletes Darryl Kennedy (Plainfield, NJ) and Tim Washington (Bristol, CT) and kicker/punter Brendan Carney (Valley Forge, PA) will join the Orange.
