
Orangewomen Face Drake in First Round of NCAA Tournament

WACO, Texas - The Syracuse women's basketball team (18-12) will play its first NCAA Tournament game since 1988 when it takes on Drake (23-7)on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. ET at the Ferrell Center on the campus of Baylor University. The Orangewomen are the 10th seed in the East Region, while the Bulldogs are the seventh seed.
The Orangewomen are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance. Syracuse is 0-2 all-time in the tournament. Drake is making its sixth appearance in the last eight years and third consecutive trip to the Big Dance. The Bulldogs have lost in the first round in their previous two appearances.
Syracuse and Drake have met once before. The Orangewomen defeated the Bulldogs, 75-72, at the Michigan State Holiday Classic on Dec. 3, 1988.
The winner will face the winner of Friday's second game which features host Baylor versus Bucknell. The Lady Bears are seeded second in the region, while the Bison are the 15th seed.
