Orangewomen Varsity Eight Defeats BU, Clemson

Senior Erin Gallagher (Upper Darby, PA/Archbishop Pendergast HS) serves as coxswain for SU's varsity eight, and Jillian Kott (Roundhill, VA/Kent School) is the stroke. Other members of the varsity eight are Shannon Mercurio (Saranac Lake, NY/Corcoran), Alicea Kochis (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck), Rachael Kirchhoff (Juneau, AK/Juneau-Douglas), Libby Graves (Holden, MA/St. Mark's), Kelly McGrorey (West Chester, PA/Henderson), Nicole Garofalo (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Bonnie Chapman (Gainesville, FL/Eastside).
SU also won the second varsity eight race with a time of 7:11.0. The Terriers were second in 7:15.7, and Clemson was third in 7:20.8. In the novice eight race, the Orangewomen were first, crossing the finish line in 7:33.1, followed by Boston University in 7:36.6. Clemson was third in 7:38.2. The Terriers won the second novice eight race with a time of 7:53.5. SU finished second in 8:00.2.
In the varsity four, Boston University finished first with a time of 8:01.7. Clemson was second in 8:15.9, followed by Syracuse in 8:19.9. In the final race of the day, SU won the varsity four B race with a time of 8:15.0. Boston University was second in 8:30.4.
The Orangewomen will travel to Derby, CT next Saturday to take on Yale and Cornell.
