SYRACUSE, NY -- The National Football League Draft, long anticipated by Syracuse All-American Dwight Freeney and some of his teammates, kicks off on Saturday, April 20.

Draft experts have Freeney pegged as a first-round selection although there is not a consensus on which NFL club will tab the defensive end.

Freeney set the NCAA record for sacks this past fall and was named co-winner of the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Year Award.

Other SU performers who may receive a call from an NFL team during the two-day draft include offensive linemen P.J. Alexander and Sean O'Connor, defensive backs Willie Ford and Quentin Harris, wide receiver Maurice Jackson, and special-teams standout J.R. Johnson.
