No. 7 Orangewomen Lose to No. 5 Yale on the Housatonic

DERBY, Conn.—The Syracuse University women's rowing team had boats finish second in five of six races against Yale and Cornell on the Housatonic River, Saturday, April 6.
Yale's fifth-ranked varsity eight crossed the finish line in a time of 6:05.4, less than seven seconds ahead of Syracuse's seventh-ranked boat, which finished in a time of 6:11.6. Cornell finished third with a time of 6:18.7. It was the first time in 712 days that the Orangewomen's varsity eight has been defeated in a regular season race. The last loss came on April 22, 2000 versus Dartmouth and Radcliffe.
The junior varsity eight race was close with Yale edging Syracuse by a little more than a second. Yale finished with a time of 6:26.4 while the SU boat finished at 6:27.5. Cornell won the varsity four A race with SU placing second. Cornell also won the varsity four B race; SU again took second place. In the novice eight, Yale placed first, with the Orangewomen's boat finishing second. In the second novice eight, Cornell was victorious with SU finishing third.
Syracuse is back on the water next Saturday when they travel to Boston to take on Penn and Northeastern.
