
Morris Has Jersey Retired By the Milwaukee Wave

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Former Syracuse men's soccer player Steve Morris was had his number 11 jersey retired by the Milwaukee Wave of the National Professional Soccer League at a recent home game at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
Morris was a four-year letterwinner at Syracuse and a two-time captain of the Orange. He was a two-time BIG EAST Player of the Year and is still SU's all-time leading scorer with 43 goals, 43 assists and 129 points. He also holds the Orangemen's single-game records with four goals versus Niagara on October 29, 1989 and five assists against St. Bonaventure on September 19, 1989. His 50 points during in 1989 still stands as the SU single-season mark.
Morris spent nine seasons with the Wave from 1992-2001. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Morris ranks in Milwaukee's all-time top ten in games played (325), goals scored (190), points (590) and assists (230). His best season was in 1999-2000 when he scored a career-best 98 points and tied a league record with seven goals in Game Three of the NPSL Championships.
Morris is the second Wave player to have their jersey retired in the franchise's history and first since 1992. Morris, 34, currently resides in Wisconsin and is the director of coaching and player development for the Brookfield Soccer Association and General Manager of the Brookfield Soccer Complex.
