Adrian Wins Second ECAC Honor This Spring

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior thrower Tim Adrian (Moorpark, Calif./Moorpark HS) of the Syracuse University track & field team was named ECAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this spring after his performance at the 107th Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday, April 26. He won the award for the first time on March 26.

Adrian won the eastern men's college shot put and finished fifth in the college championship division of the discus. His mark of 17.30m (56-9 1/4) in the shot put was nearly two feet better than his previous career-best of 16.75m (54-11 3/4) set in his sophomore season. He also set the Penn Relays' men's eastern division with the throw. His effort would have placed him second in the college men's division and seventh in the college men's championship.

The defending BIG EAST outdoor discus champion, Adrian, placed fifth in the college championship division with a season-best throw of 54.12m (177-7).

Adrian will look to defend his title as he and the rest of the Orangemen and Orangewomen travel to Storrs, Conn., for the 2002 BIG EAST Track & Field Outdoor Championship, May 3-5.
