SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse University men's crew team races against Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. for the Packard Trophy on Saturday, May 11.
The Orangemen's last Packard Trophy win came in 1990. Dr. Anthony Ladd commissioned the Packard Trophy in 1959 to honor his father-in-law, Edward N. Packard (SU class of 1906). The sterling silver cup is awarded annually to the winner of the Syracuse-Dartmouth race. Packard was the stroke of the 1904 varsity eight, the first SU crew to capture an IRA championship.
Along with the varsity eight, the Orangemen will race Dartmouth in junior varsity eight and freshman eight races.
