Aprelle Watkins

Syracuse University graduate student Aprelle Watkins (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem HS) has been named to the 2002 National Collegiate Division I All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field Coaches Association.

The honor is in recognition of outstanding academic and athletic achievement in track & field. This includes maintaining a cumulative grade-point average greater than 3.0 and qualifying for the NCAA Championship.

Watkins, a triple-jumper, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in May. She set the school record in the triple jump with a distance of 42-41/4 in the spring and was a provisional qualifier for the 2002 NCAA Championship.

She is currently pursuing a master's degree in information management.
