
Park Joins SU Radio Network

A 1997 graduate of Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Park returns to his alma mater after serving as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Class AA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. In that capacity, Park was the play-by-play broadcaster for 140 regular season games during his four-year tenure with the Diamond Jaxx.
For the past two years, Park has also served as a television play-by-play broadcaster for Comcast / Charter Sports Southeast in Atlanta, Ga. He called the action for the Southern Conference and Gulf South Conference football games of the week, as well as the Gulf South’s men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
Late in 2001, Park was the host of Conference Call, a three-hour nightly radio show on the United Sports Talk Network which covered Southeastern Conference athletics.
After graduating from SU, Park spent two years as the play-by-play announcer for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro men’s basketball team. During baseball season, he handled play-by-play for the Piedmont Boll Weevils, the Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, as well as the 1998 South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
While studying broadcast journalism at Syracuse, Park worked as a sports producer at WTVH-TV (CBS), as a high school sports game announcer at WMCR Radio in Oneida, and as the assistant sports director at WAER-FM88. As an undergraduate, Park handled the play-by-play of SU football, basketball and lacrosse games. He also wrote, produced and delivered an 11-part compilation of great moments in SU football history.
