SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's soccer team will put its two-game winning streak on the line when it hosts Adelphi at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 14 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orangemen are 2-2 on the season, while the Panthers are 0-4.
Sophomore forward Jarett Park (Tully, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) has scored seven points in SU's last two games. He had two goals and an assist versus Georgetown and a goal in the Orangemen's victory at Colgate.
Senior forward Guido Cristofori (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) has also been on a scoring spree. Cristofori has scored in three consecutive games, totaling five points on two goals and an assist. Junior forward Kirk Johnson (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown), SU's leading scorer in each of the last two seasons, recorded his first goal at Colgate.
Freshman goalkeeper Alim Karim (Scarborough, Ontario/West Hill Collegiate) made a season-best 12 saves at Colgate. It was his first career shutout, and the most saves for an SU keeper since 1996.
The Panthers have lost the first four games of 2002, dropping a 3-0 decision to St. John's in their last game. SU is the second of four BIG EAST opponents that Adelphi will face in 2002.
SU leads the all-time series with the Panthers, 13-9. The Orangemen have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including eight in a row. Syracuse won at Adelphi in 2001, 3-0.
