
UW-Milwaukee Defeats Orangewomen, 3-0

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team lost its third straight match as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee defeated the Orangewomen, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in University Arena.
UW-Milwaukee (3-9) hit .315 as a team compared to SU’s .092 hitting percentage. Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) led Syracuse (9-4) with 10 kills and 11 digs. Junior co-captain Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) joined Conway in double figures with 14 digs.
Junior Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) and freshman Kathryn Dercher (Weatherby Lake, MO/Park Hill) split the setting duties with Skelly dishing out 16 assists and Dercher recording 13. Dercher also added 10 digs.
Karen Fruit led UW-Milwaukee with 20 kills and 16 assists. Sarah Potts recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs.
Syracuse opens its BIG EAST conference play on Friday, Sept. 27 when it faces St. John’s at 7 p.m. in Manley Field House.
