SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's soccer team will try and end its season-opening two-game losing streak when it hosts Georgetown on Saturday, September 7 at 1 p.m. The Hoyas enter Saturday's play with an identical 0-2 record.
The game is the first BIG EAST contest of 2002 for both teams. The Orangemen are 3-8 in conference openers under head coach Dean Foti, but SU has won 8-of-11 home openers during his tenure.
Senior Guido Cristofori (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) has the only goal of the season for SU. Sophomore Ryan Hickey (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) tallied his first career point with the assist.
The Hoyas lead the all-time series with Syracuse, 6-4-1. The two teams battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in their last meeting on September 22, 2000 at Georgetown. Due to BIG EAST scheduling, in which there are two league opponents a team does not play during the season, Syracuse and Georgetown did not meet in 2001.
