1/29/2003 3:40:55 PM | General
While many were preparing for their Super Bowl party, nine Syracuse University student-athletes volunteered a few hours of their Sunday afternoon to help the Ronald McDonald House on East Genessee Street in Syracuse on January 26. The student-athletes completed various tasks, including cleaning the facility and filling up soda machines.
The SU contingent included John Bitok and Alison Culley from the cross country/track & field teams, Beth Landgraf, Juliet Bonczkowski and Emily Havalchak from the women's rowing team, Elyse McDonough and Spencer Raymond from the swimming & diving teams, and Alile Eldridge and Jacquelyn Walker from the women's lacrosse team.
For each of the past five years, SU Chancellor Kenneth Shaw has recognized SU's student-athletes with the Chancellor's Award for Public Service because of their involvement in the Syracuse community.
