
Field Hockey Loses 3-2 Decision at Dartmouth

Freshman Audrey Knutston broke free in the circle and scored the game-winning goal with 13:35 remaining in the contest as Dartmouth defeated Syracuse, 3-2, in field hockey action Sunday at Scully-Fahey Field.
Dartmouth (2-10) fell behind early in the first half. Â Syracuse's Michelle Sola (Blandon, Pa./Oley Valley) put in a loose ball in front after a penalty corner opportunity at the 26:41 mark of the first half to put the Orangewomen up, 1-0.
Dartmouth answered back a little more than a minute later. Â Senior Rebekka Stucker scored the first of her two goals on a penalty corner shot with 25:17 left in the half. Â Stucker gave the Big Green a 2-1 lead with another penalty corner goal at the 14:09 mark. Â Junior Lexie Otto and senior Averill Doering assisted on the play.
Syracuse tied the score at 2-2 with 17:08 left in the game. Â Junior forward Meredith Gettel (Rehrersburg, Pa./Tulpehocken) picked up a loose ball in front and scored after Dartmouth sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Balukjian had stopped the initial shot on a penalty corner. The Orangewomen outshot the Big Green, 7-5 and held a 6-5 edge in penalty corner opportunities. Â Balukjian made four saves for the Big Green.
Syracuse is 5-9 on the season. Â The Orangewomen's next game is Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Colgate, beginning at 7 p.m.
