Freshman Eight Places Third at the Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Syracuse’s freshman eight finished third out of 42 boats in the women’s college freshman/novice eights race at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta held on the Schuylkill River Saturday, Oct. 25. The boat finished with a time of 14:47.61 in the 2.5 mile competition.
Princeton University claimed the first two positions with its A boat winning the race with a time of 14:11.91 and its B boat completing the course in 14:37.37.
SU’s freshman eight boat was made up of Rachel Gibian, Katie Schneider, Karlyn Downing, Jamie Doerr, Amanda Arditti, Casey Irving, Ruth Frantz, Nora Creahan. Erin Cunningham served as the boat’s coxswain.
It was the second consecutive year that the freshman/novice eight placed third in the competition.
The Orangewomen will host the Syracuse Smash Pairs Race on Sat. Nov. 1.
