SU Places 18th and 20th at Belly of the Carnegie

PRINCETON, N.J.-- The Syracuse freshman rowing squad placed two boats in the top 20 at the Belly of the Carnegie on Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Orangewomen's second varsity eight placed 18th out of 30 boats in the women's open eight with a time of 17:27.16, while SU's A boat finished 20th (17:37.14).
The crew from Pennsylvania won the event, crossing the finish line at 15:55.38. Princeton's A boat claimed second place (15:55.58), while the Tiger's B boat finished third (16:13.29). Pennsylvania's B squad placed fourth (16:36.46) and Cornell's A boat rounded out the top five, completing the course in 16:36.85.
The regatta took place on Lake Carnegie with the course covering a 2.75 mile stretch of water from the Kingston end of Lake Carnegie to just before the Washington Road bridge.
The Orangewomen will return to action on March 27 when they compete against Boston University and Duke. Syracuse will spend the winter months training, including week-long stints in Melbourne, Fla. and Miami, Fla.
