
Orangewomen Defeat West Virginia in Three-Game Epic

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Syracuse volleyball team finished its season in style with a three-game win against West Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 16. SU won the first two games, 30-27, 30-24, before battling the Mountaineers for the match, winning the third game, 38-36. The Orangewomen finish the season with a 17-16 overall record and a 4-8 mark in the BIG EAST.
Sophomore Kristen Conway recorded a double-double with 11 kills on 30 attempts and adding 15 digs. Freshman Erin McQuillin notched nine kills and eight block assists, and sophomore Kelly Duan posted nine kills and seven block assists. Junior Morgan Jones had 11 kills, and sophomore Kathryn Dercher recorded 24 assists. Sophomore Aila Dommestrup finished with 20 assists and three block assists. Seniors Christen Casey and Michaela Skelly, playing in their final match for the Orange, recorded 18 and 13 digs, respectively.
Stephanie Zolna posted a double-double for the Mountaineers with 17 kills and 19 digs. Julie Hockenson posted 13 kills, and Alison Zemanski recorded nine kills and four block assists. Jennifer Hayhurst posted six kills and six digs, and Kelly Mullins had 11 digs. Brandice Studnicka finished with 44 assists and seven digs.
