
Orangewomen Ranked 10th in Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll

Syracuse was picked to finish ninth at the start of the 2001 season, 10th prior to 2002, and 17th before the beginning of last season. The rankings are determined by the magazine’s staff in conjunction with college coaches from around the nation.
Three of last year’s Final Four participants occupy the top three spots in the poll, including defending national champion Princeton which is ranked No. 1. Virgina, Princeton’s opponent in the national championship game is second, Maryland is third and Duke and Georgetown round out the top five. Dartmouth begins the year ranked sixth, followed by James Madison, Loyola, Ohio State and Syracuse.
The Orangewomen will play five of the top eight team’s in the poll (Virginia, Maryland, Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Loyola) and seven teams in the top 20 in 2004.
Syracuse finished the 2003 campaign with an overall record of 10-6 and made its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
The Orangewomen will scrimmage Pennsylvania at home on Feb. 14 before opening the 2004 regular season at Virginia on Feb. 28.
