
Orangemen Soccer Earns Academic Award

MISSION, Kan. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) announced that the Syracuse men's soccer team earned the oraganization’s academic Team Award for the 2002-03 school year. It is the third consecutive year that the Orangemen have been honored for their work in the classroom.
Head coach Dean Foti's squad had 3.06 cumulative grade point average for the 2002-03 academic year. Syracuse had 19 of its players named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-or-better GPA) at least one semester last year. The Orangemen also had 14 student-athletes on the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team.
Syracuse’s women’s soccer team also earned the organization’s academic team award, making SU one of 46 schools across the country to have both its men’s and women’s team receive the honor. Head coach April Kater's team recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.35.
The awards will be presented at the 57th Annual NSCAA Convention on January 15, 2004 in Charlotte, N.C.
