
Softball to Play in Seminole Challenge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Syracuse softball team will travel to 15th-ranked Florida State University for the Seminole Challenge beginning on Friday, February 28. The trip to FSU replaces the scheduled trip to Southern Illinois that was cancelled due to inclement weather in Carbondale, Ill.
The Orangewomen (2-3) will play four games at the event. SU opens with a 7 p.m. tilt versus Mississippi State on Friday. Syracuse will take on the host Seminoles at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 and then face MSU again at 5 p.m. Sunday's schedule includes one game versus BIG EAST rival Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. That game will not count in the BIG EAST standings.

Syracuse finished 2-3 in its first weekend of action at the UNLV Tournament. Junior Rachel Park led the team the plate, hitting .438 with two home runs and three runs batted in. She was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for her performance. Senior Tara DiMaggio was honored as BIG EAST Co-Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with two shutouts. DiMaggio didn't allow an earned run in 21.1 innings of work. She struck out 14 and walked just five.
